Bath blankets being supplied to the Veterans’ Administration must be legibly and permanently marked with the following information: “VA PROPERTY NOT FOR SALE”, when specified. The marking shall be placed parallel to the selvage edge.
Workmanship. The blanket shall be free from defects such as holes, tears, misweaves, spots, loose or skipped stitches, raw edges, etc., that will affect appearance and serviceability.
Inspection of the end item. A lot shall consist of blankets of the same cloth manufactured using the same method and process. The sample unit shall be one blanket. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105.
A. Examination for construction and workmanship. The inspection level shall be S-3 with an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 4.0 percent defective.
B. Dimensional examination. Use S-3, AQL 2.5 percent defective. Examine for the following defects: Length or width less than specified. Length uneven by more than 1 1/2 inches. Width uneven by more than 1 inch. Hem width less than specified. Turn under less than specified.
c. Testinq. Use level S-2 with an AQL of 2.5 percent defective for all tests in Table I, except for the absorbency test which requires at least 5 samples to be selected from each ten thousand (10,000) blankets and tested in accordance with MTCC 79 2_/. Any blanket that fails the absorbency test shall result in rejection of the lot.
Regulatory requirement. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing suppliers’ employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Preservation. packaging, packing. labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
