BLANKET, BED
The General Services Administration has authorized
the use of this commercial item description in preference
to Federal Specification DDD-B-421, Type I, Class 2.
This blanket is intended for use in institutions where absorbency and comfort are desirable characteristics. Because of its absorbency and softness, it is especially suitable for use as a bath blanket.
Salient characteristics.
The blanket shall be white in color, meeting the requirements specified in this paragraph and the requirements listed in Table 1. The fabric shall be a two-bar warp knit, knitted from 100 percent polyester in such a manner as to achieve a “waffle like: stitch. The fabric shall be (1) napped in order to provide a warm, comfortable, soft feel, and (2) treated with an absorbency treatment which will provide permanent absorbency characteristics which are maintained throughout the useful “life of the blanket” (see footnote 2/). The blanket shall conform to the standard sample with respect to color, softness, and “waffle like” stitch construction. A standard sample may be obtained from the contracting official issuing the invitation for bid.
