Wash in accordance with U.S. Army Natick R, D & E Center’s Formula IV (see 5.4).
2.4.2 State label requirements. When required, each pillow shall have a label attached conforming with the legal requirements of the state in which it is manufactured. When allowed under state law, the information required under state regulations may be combined in the identification and instruction label.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE
3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
3.2 Quality conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105.
3.3 End item visual examination. Each lot of pillows shall be examined for consumer type defects, defined as follows:
Defects in design, construction, or workmanship; open seam; any hole, needle chew, cut or tear, or any spot or stain clearly noticeable; offensive or objectionable odor; label missing or not as specified.
The lot size shall be expressed in units of pillows. The sample unit shall be one pillow. The inspection level shall be level II, and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5.
3.4 End item dimensional examination. The pillows shall be examined for conformance to the finished size and weight as specified in 2.3. Any dimension or weight not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in unit of pillows. The sample unit shall be one pillow. The inspection level shall be S-3, and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 4.0.
3.5 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
4. PACKAGING
4.1 Packaging. Each pillow shall be inserted in a snug-fitting, clear polyethylene film bag of 0.00125 inch thickness (± 20 percent tolerance). The identification label attached to each pillow shall be positioned so that the
