COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

TOWELS, DISH AND DISCHLOTHS

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification DDD-T-511,

Type I, Class 2, Sizes 2 and 3.

Salient characteristics:

The towels and dishcloths shall be bleached white, 100 percent cotton crash cloth weighing 5.8 oz/sq yd minimum. The side edges of the towels and dishcloths shall be hemmed to finished width of 17 inches (tolerance = + 1/2inch). The towels and dishcloths shall be hemmed at both ends to a minimum finished length of 36 inches for towels, and 14-1/2 inches for dishcloths. Narrow colored stripes located within 1 inch of the outside of the side edges are acceptable, provided that dyed yarns are colorfast to laundering.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.

Note: Purchasers should specify whether towels or dishcloths are required.
