COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PILLOW, BED
(Polyester Fiber)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-P-37042 (DSA-DM) which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a polyester fiber bed pillow.
Salient characteristics:
The finished bed pillow shall be rectangular in shape and shall be 20 inches plus or minus 1/’2inch in width and 26 Inches plus or minus 1/2 Inch In length. Length and width measurements of the filled and closed pillow shall be determined from end of seam to end of seam.
The pillow shall be made of one piece of cotton ticking with the strips in the widthwise direction (shorter dimension) of the pillow. The case shall be seamed inside-out leaving one end open. The end opening shall be seamed after turning the case right side out and filling the pillow. Stitching shall be not less than 1/4 inch from the edges of the material except that the stitching on final closure shall be not less than 1/8 inch from the edge. One end of the identification label and instruction label shall be securely stitched into the closing seam or the seam opposite the closing Seam of the pillow. When a separate state label is legally required by the state in which the pillow is manufactured the state label shall De securely stitched adjacent to and in the same seam as the identification label.
The ticking shall be an untreated clean cotton ticking twill cloth with a minimum weight of 6.5 ounces/square yard. The yarn shall be singles and shall be made from cotton which has been carded, drawn, and spun into singles yarn. The cloth shall have a minimum of 70 yarns per inch in the warp direction and 44 yarns per inch in the filling direction. The minimum breaking strength shall be 110 pounds (warp) and 60
