COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PILLOWS, BED (FEATHER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Types Ia, II, III, and IV, Classes 1 and 2.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers one type and size of pillow.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Description. The feather pillows shall be filled with small, whole waterfowl feathers. The feathers shall be washed, dried, and sterilized, as well as dust and odor-free. The feathers shall be new (not previously used or reclaimed). The pillow ticking shall be cotton, and shall be downproof and featherproof. The pillow is intended to be laundered. The color of the ticking shall be white, or when specified (see 5.2), shall be white with a woven blue warp stripe. The feather filling and ticking materials shall conform to the requirements listed in table I.
